What is Nuclear Disaster?

"An event that has led to significant consequences to people, the environment or the facility." Examples include lethal effects to individuals, large radioactivity release to the environment, or reactor core melt.” The prime example of a "major nuclear accident" is one in which a reactor core is damaged and significant amounts of radioactivity are released.

it is defined to mean the accidental melting of the core a nuclear reactor, and is in common usage a reference to the core’s either complete or partial collapse. It main cause is nuclear meltdown. A nuclear meltdown is an informal term for a severe nuclear accident that results is core damage from overheating.

Cases of Nuclear Disaster

Chernobyl, Ukraine 1987- The Chernobyl Nuclear disaster is widely considered to have been the worst power plant accident in history, and is one of only two classified as a event on the International Nuclear Event scale. The battle to contain the contamination and avert a greater catastrophe ultimately involved over 500,000 workers and cost an estimated 18 billion rubles.  The official Soviet casualty count of 31 deaths has been disputed and long-term effects such as cancers and deformities are still being accounted for.

Fukushima, japan 2011- The Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster was a series of equipment failures, nuclear meltdowns and releases of radioactive materials at the Fukushima, Nuclear Power Plant, following the Tohoku Tsunami on 11 March, 2011.  It is the largest nuclear disaster since the Chernobyl disaster of 1986 and only the second disaster (along with Chernobyl) to measure Level 7 on the INES.

Nuclear Disasters are very similar to the world.

Effects of Nuclear Disaster

  • It affects eye sight.
  • Land degradation.
  • The ecological system gets disturbed.
  • Direct contact leads to radioactive sickness witch many lead to death.
  • Birds and animals have effect on their reproductive system.
  • Cancer is major problem in affected areas and effect may stay longer.
  • Gene disturbances and deformity in newly born.
  • Air and water will be contamination due to radioactive steam and groundwater mixing with radioactive substances.

Safety Tips from Nuclear Disaster

  • Stay in your safe area.
  • If you are outdoors, you should return to your house, wash your hands and legs, and refrain from going outside.
  • Refrain from using mobile phone. Refrain from making calls except in an emergency.
  • If you are informed of the occurrence of a nuclear emergency
  • You should arrange emergency items according to the situation and composition of your family.
  • Adhesive tape, bandage, salve, antiseptic, digestion medicine, analgesic, etc.

How to stop Nuclear Disaster

Sticking to rules is most important for installations like nuclear power plants. International agreements already exist. What is needed is that nations stick to resolve like not making and storing weapons of mass destruction. Factories Act prescribes safety conditions. If all manufactures adhere to those safety measures, there would be fewer industrial accidents.
