In India 26th of January is celebrated as Republic Day every year because constitution of India came into force on this day. It is celebrated as the national festival of India which has been declared as national holiday.

Republic Day is celebrated in India on 26th day of January every year.

India became an Independent Nation on 15th August, 1947. On 26th January, 1950 India was formerly declared Republic. In Republic, the supreme power is held not by a monarch, but by the elected representatives of the people, along with an elected President. So this day is celebrated as the Republic Day. It is a National holiday. January 26 is our Republic Day. We celebrate this day every year. It was on this day in 1950 that Indian became a Sovereign Democratic Republic and had a constitution of its own. The Republic Day is celebrated all over the country with great pomp and show. In Delhi, it is celebrated amidst great enthusiasm and joy.

In Delhi, on the occasion of Republic day, a parade is held every year on Rajpath. The 66th Republic day celebration ceremony in India was held on 26th January, 2015. Barack Obama, 44th President of the Unites States of America, was invited as chief guest to attend the ceremony. It was a moment of respect and self-esteem for the Indians.

 Early in the morning people begin to assemble at Raj Path and other places form Rajpath to Red Fort to watch the parade. The President of India takes the salute.



How Republic Day celebrated?

Indian Republic Day is organized on a large scale in India's capital Delhi by the Indian government. A great parade of Indian Armed Forces is organized at Rajpath, New Delhi. This parade starts from Vijay Chowk and ends at India Gate. Indian Armed Forces, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force, demonstrated their weapons and power for the general public. After the parade of the Armed Forces, all the states of India exhibited their 'Zukaiyani', and exhibited their culture and tradition under 'Unity in diversity in India'. Folk dance and songs of India are also presented by participants.

Government of India has declared Republic Day a gazetted public holiday. However, various cultural programs are organized in schools and colleges across the country. All these programs have been hoisted in the Indian National Flag and the national anthem is described. On this day students renewed their proposal to make India a better, peaceful and developing nation. The most important thing is that they are vowing to become good citizens of the country.




India became a democratic country on 26th January, 1950.

On this day, the constitution of India was officially adopted. The chief architect of the Constitution of India was Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.

Rajendra Prasad, the first President of Independent India, took the oath for office on this day in 1950. Our first President gave a speech that was greeted warmly by the citizens of India.
