Minerals And Resources in Rajasthan

Previous Next

Rajasthan Mineral Resources is leading manufacturer and exporter of Quartz stones from India. Our aim to satisfy our clients through our high quality products, we streamline our processes and procedures towards this goal. Abiding by the principle of not leaving any stones unturned in giving the best to our clients, we have constantly adopted the latest techniques to maintain our quality standards. We are exploring new arena and business markets with our production facilities and competent work force. Minerals are natural resources with many uses. Many products we take for granted – from paper to glass, cosmetics to toothpaste – are manufactured using materials derived from quarrying. Although a finite resource, demand for minerals is ongoing.

Metallic minerals

The metallic minerals sector produces a wide range of ores yielding metals or metallic substances. The EU is an important producer of chromium, copper, lead, silver, and zinc. However, most metallic ores that supply the European metallic industry are imported. Only a few EU countries have active mines. They include Austria, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Poland, Portugal, and Sweden. In those countries, metal mining contributes more than 1% to the global production of a particular metallic mineral.

Fertilizer Minerals

All fertilizer minerals  are divided into organic and mineral. Organic fertilizers are universal, they contain everything necessary nutrition elements for plants. For example, organic fertilizer is manure contains about 0.5% nitrogen and 0.6% potassium, 0.25% phosphorus, etc. Mineral fertilizers contain many times more nutrients than organic fertilizers. So, for example, nitrogen fertilizer contains 15% nitrogen (sodium nitrate, NaNO3) to 82% (liquid ammonia).Phosphate fertilizers contain from 18% phosphorus (phosphate rock) to 40%. Potassium fertilizers contain potassium from 16% to 62% (potassium chloride - KCl). In complex fertilizers contains nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. It is known that one kilogram of potassium, added to soil in which the potato is planted, increases the yield of 50 kg. Mineral fertilizers increase the harvest of grain, vegetables and fruit crops.

There are mineral fertilizers containing 1,2 and 3 nutrients, therefore are called simple, double and complex. In addition, some complex fertilizers also contain trace elements such as copper, boron, zinc, manganese. Fertilizer are stored in dry cool place, the shelf life is not limited, but preferably not more than 2 years.

Mineral fertilizers applied to the soil in early spring or autumn before the preparation of the soil. During plant growth the fertilizers also add. (evenly scattered in dry form or watered).

Oil and fuel Minerals

Rajasthan has significant resource potential of hydrocarbons under four Petroliferous basin. These four basins fall in the 15 districts of the State, namely Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh, Jalore, Jodhpur, Kota, Jhalawar, Baran, Bundi, Chittorgarh and Sawai-Madhopur spread over an area of 1,50,000 sq. km. A total of 480 million tonnes of crude oil and 3-6 billion cubic metre of natural gas were proved in Barmer-Sanchore basin and 25-30 billion cubic metre natural gas was proved in Jaisalmer basin. Cairn India has discovered 25 oil fields in Barmer-Sanchore basin. Nearly 6.5 billion barrels of oil in place have been proved alone in Barmer-Sanchore basin. The commercial production of crude oil from Rajasthan has commenced from 29 August 2009. The State is second highest producer of crude oil after Bombay High and is the first in on-shore. It has contributed about 25% of crude oil production. Present production is 9 million tonnes per annum. Oil and fuel minerals in rajasthan.

Dimensional & Decorative Stones

Rajasthan has enormous reserves of a large variety of dimensional and decorative stones and has a lion's share in the national production of these stones. The stone mining and processing industries are growing at a rate of 12% per annum. The State is leading producer of Marble, Sandstone and Flaggy Limestone (Kota stone) whiles the Granite production in the State is steadily increasing. The State enjoys distinction over other States for having the best resources of the finest quality of Marble.

Industrial and Non-Metallic Minerals

Industrial minerals may be defined as minerals mined and processed (either from natural sources or synthetically processed) for the value of their non-metallurgical properties, which provides for their use in an extremely wide range of industrial and domestic applications.  As a general rule, they can also be defined as being non-metallic, non-fuel minerals.

Non-metallic mineral reserves consist of stone quarries and clay and sand pits; chemical and fertilizer mineral deposits; salt deposits; deposits of quartz, gypsum, natural gem stones, asphalt and bitumen, peat and other non-metallic minerals other than coal and petroleum.
