NSTSE - National Level Science Talent Search Examination
Many of us know partially about these exams. But most of the parents lack in depth knowledge about NSTSE Exams. The purpose of the article is to provide you in-depth knowledge about these exams. NSTSE is a scientifically designed, skill-based assessment test which has been developed in India only. It has been developed after a comprehensive study of the syllabi of different boards such as CBSE, ICSE, and various state boards etc. central and state boards. The test is based on questions on various core subjects and aimed at the testing of skills of the students. The tests are designed as such that skills of the good students are reflects automatically.
Eligibility
Students studying Classes
II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX and X
XI(PCM) and XI(PCB)
XII(PCM) and XII(PCB)
There is no exam for XI, XII PCMB group.
NSTSE follows CBSE syllabus, Question Papers are also suitable for Students of ICSE/ISC and Various State Board/Matriculation Syllabi.
Syllabus
Each class has a different question paper.
All questions are objective-type with no negative marking for wrong answers.

NSTSE is biased on the CBSE syllabus. 85% of the Syllabus is considered for setting the NSTSE Question Papers.
NSTSE Question Papers are also suitable for students of ICSE/ISC and Various other State Board/Matriculation Syllabi.
NSTSE will be conducted in Two Levels.
First Level will be conducted in the selected test centers.
Second Level for the Top-500 students (Class 2-12) across the nation and Top-20 students from each class will be conducted in the nearest selected State Head Quarters/Main Towns. For Class-1 students NSTSE will be a single level exam.
Awards
Prizes for National Achievers
NSTSE Topper is awarded Rs. 2,00,000 cash prize. The student who achieves the highest percentage of marks among all the classes is declared as NSTSE Topper.
The top 3 rankers of each class are awarded a Tablet PC + a Memento + a Medal, each
The next 22 rankers in each class (Ranks 4 to 25) of each class are awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1000 each.
Rankers 26 to 100 of each class are awarded BMA’s Talent & Olympiad Exams Resource Book from M/s. Brain Mapping Academy, each.
All the rankers (1 to 100) will each be awarded a Britannica Concise Encyclopedia and Planet Earth (2 CD Pack) worth Rs. 1690, a Medal and a Certificate of Appreciation.
Participation certificates are offered to all students who appear for the examination.
Prizes for State Toppers
Top 3 rankers from each State (minimum of 10,000 students in a particular State) are awarded with a special award for encouragement. He/she is awarded with a Britannica Concise Encyclopedia and Planet Earth (2 CD Pack) worth Rs. 1690 and a Certificate of Appreciation.
Note: State-wise ranks are declared after excluding the top 100 ranks across the country.
NSTSE Topper: A student of any class who achieves 100% marks is awarded prize money of Rs. 2 Lakh. If no student achieves the same, then the student, who achieves the highest percentage of marks among all the classes, is awarded Rs. 1 Lakh. If more than one student achieves the same, the prize money will be distributed equally among them. Each topper will get either this prize or the regular prize.
